Doors Open

Discover the many fascinating heritage sites of your city and the surrounding cities and towns as the annual Doors Open event gives a look inside commercial buildings, courthouses, theatres, museums, places of worship, gardens and natural heritage sites. This free province-wide program allows access to many sites that are normally closed to the public allowing a glimpse into a side of your city you may otherwise never see with 2016's event placing a focus on the province's rich legacy of medical science and innovation. “Since it began, Doors Open Ontario has allowed millions of people to glimpse into some of our province's most fascinating cultural sites,” said Michael Coteau, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “Not only does the program boost local economies, but it also raises awareness of and interest in heritage conservation. I encourage Ontarians and visitors to get out and discover the unique story and experience waiting behind every door.” Doors Open Burlington and Mississauga both take place on October 1 while the Halton Region Doors Open event covers two days, taking place on October 1 and 2.
