Oakville Symphony conductor celebrates 20 years

The Oakville Symphony celebrated conductor and music director Roberto De Clara's 20th anniversary in October with a special event at The Oakville Club. At the request of De Clara, the event also helped to raise funds for the Symphony's Outreach program. “In addition to ensuring our symphony's musical aspirations are met, Roberto has devoted himself to introducing classical music to our community's young people through our Outreach programs,” says Ann Hewitt, co-chair of the Oakville Symphony Orchestra. “He also began a mentorship and scholarship program for young artists and continually draws a crowd at his community talks, “Not Just the Score.” At a time when too many community orchestras are struggling, ours is thriving and it is Roberto's leadership of our talented musicians and his engaging style that contribute significantly to our success.” The Oakville Symphony Orchestra is currently comprised of 80 volunteer musicians and 11 professionals, performing concerts in November, February, April and May with special family and youth concerts throughout the year.
