The Burlington Performing Arts Centre

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is edging closer to it's official opening and we're getting excited. Set to house dance, music, and drama alike, the Performing Arts Centre will include Celtic, blues, opera, jazz, and choral music, along with various forms of dance such as ballet, hip-hop, and modern dance.

Sure to become a new hot-spot for locals and tourists alike, the Burlington Performing Arts Centre will have two theatres: the Main Theatre, with 718 seats, and the Community Studio Theatre, with 200 seats. The inaugural theme for the 2011-2012 season is Experiences that Inspire, and the opening line up of performers does just that.

The official season kickoff starts on October 1 with a performance by iTunes Songwriter of the Year, Royal Wood, followed by Celebration! A Blue Jeans Gala, hosted by CBC broadcaster Jian Ghomeshi. The official opening ceremony, A Red Carpet Experience, takes place on December 3, with a performance by world-renowned musician Sarah McLachlan.

Located on the corner of Locust St and Elgin St in Downtown Burlington, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre was built to Leadership in Environmental Design (LEED) principles and is set to be Canada's only freestanding green performing arts centre.
