Youth arts award announced

The late CEO of Mississauga's Living Arts Centre (LAC) and former publisher of The Mississauga News is being memorialized through the new Ron Lenyk Inspiring Youth Arts Award.  A passionate devotee of the arts and advocate of youth, Lenyk is quoted as having said, “To see the excitement on their face, and to think one day they will be the performers and artists at the LAC. I relish the contribution they can make to the community.”  The award will grant up to two awards of $2,500 annually to a youth in the community aged 12 to 25 who has made a contribution to the growing Mississauga arts community and begun to establish themselves in their fields. Individuals will be selected by a jury of art professionals and Mississauga community members and will be considered in the categories of literary, media, visual and performing arts. Winners are to be announced at an event taking place on May 31.
