The Grand Cayman Shoot: behind the scenes

What's been the highight of the year here at WEST? We have to say being invited to shoot our July fashion spread in The Cayman Islands! We worked with Grand Cayman-based photographer Rebecca Davidson to capture the gorgeous shots in various locations on the island. We were also thrilled to have the privilege to work with Miss Cayman Islands 2012 Lindsay Japal as our model. Lindsay was lovely to work with, and after a long day of shooting, was packing her bags to head to Las Vegas for a Miss Universe obligation. Here are a few of our favourite things from our Grand Cayman adventure!

What was in my bag? Fabulous colours from Dior. Lindsay is wearing Dior Vernis in “Cosmo” from the Summer Mix Collection, $24 available at The Bay.

A must for long days in the sun, a high SPF sunscreen. Lancome BienFait UV SPF 50 Facial Sunscreen, $35 available at Lancome counters.

Caribbean Club was home base for the shoot. The condo suites are incredibly sumptuous, and the pool looks out over a prime piece of famous Seven Mile Beach. That is a Canadian flag the hotel hoisted in honour of our visit!

Evenings are filled with world-class fine dining in Grand Cayman. Osetra Bay is one of the coolest dining rooms with impeccably prepared dishes by Canadian Chef Joseph Watters. Camana Bay is the outdoor centre where we shopped and dined our final evening in gorgeous Grand Cayman.

Our shoot took place alongside luxury swimwear designer Tosca Delfino's shoot for her new collection, inspired by the Cayman Islands. We were graciously invited aboard the Ugland family's yacht for the day. It was slightly overcast, but we still got some gorgeous shots on the boat and while visiting Starfish Point. Those are real starfish on a natural beach, they are about 15-inches tip to tip.
